Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh inspected ongoing construction and rehabilitation works at the Prince of Wales School in Kingtom and the Milton Margai Technical University in Brookfields on 29 October 2026. These infrastructure projects aim to upgrade educational facilities across Freetown. During the site visits, the Vice President assessed the progress of renovations and the implementation of planned structural improvements at both institutions. Addressing the personnel managing the construction efforts, Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh stated, "We need to support the entire project team so that we can deliver these projects." Officials continue to monitor the development timelines for these sites as part of the government's broader efforts to improve the quality of educational infrastructure in Sierra Leone.
Scope of Educational Funding
The Sierra Leone Support of Education Project (SLSEP) functions as a US$68 million initiative designed to improve national academic facilities. Financial backing for the program comes from three primary international organizations. The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID), and the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) provide the capital necessary for the project’s execution. These entities supply the funding required to maintain the current construction and rehabilitation efforts overseen by the government. Officials utilize these resources to sustain the development timelines at various sites across the country. Management teams at the Prince of Wales School and the Milton Margai Technical University receive support through these specific financial allocations.
Prince of Wales School Upgrades
Construction plans for the Prince of Wales School in Kingtom include the development of a new complex. This facility will house 24 classrooms, sanitary facilities, a perimeter fence, and teachers' quarters.
The new classroom complex at the Prince of Wales School is expected to accommodate more than 1,000 pupils once construction reaches completion. These structural additions are intended to expand the capacity of the educational institution as part of the government's infrastructure upgrades.
During his inspection on 29 October 2026, Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh acknowledged delays in the project's delivery. He assessed the current status of the worksite and the timeline for the remaining construction tasks.
