Community Sanitation Upgrades
In the community of Congo Town, a significant step towards improved domestic energy and sanitation has been taken, with four biodigesters successfully installed within the compounds of participating residents. Each of these biodigesters in Congo Town is specifically designed to connect to stoves in up to 20 homes, providing a consistent and clean source of cooking fuel. Separately, a newly constructed 5-unit public toilet at Hagan Street Market is set to offer significantly improved sanitation facilities for the numerous market traders and patrons in the area. Crucially, organic waste generated from Hagan Street Market itself, along with waste meticulously collected from Dove Cut, Mabella, and Cow Yard Markets, will be channeled to feed the biodigesters located on site.
